There have always been gyms that tend to attract a certain profile of person. It did have something to do with gender, but was really dependant on the work out level of the customers. The body building gyms have historically attracted a male audience, but most ladies are not looking to get buff. The other gyms were focused on weight loss and toning, which typically attract a female clientele. Let's face it we are different and therefore have different needs in our work out. There is a chain of gyms now that goes under the name of Curves. These gyms are only for women and tout a 30 minute workout. The basic premise is there is a circuit of machines and exercises that if you follow the cues you can finish in 30 minutes. This plays to the hurried life styles we live and the desire to be fit and tone. The idea has caught on so well for the ladies that now there is a franchise for Cuts, same concept only just for men. You go in and do the circuit, change machines when prompted and are done in 30 minutes. The focus for men is on strength training while for women it is on toning and firming. In both cases it is about getting your heart rate up and keeping it there for the duration of the circuit. In the end only you and your doctor can decide if this option is right for you. It comes in a low stress environment and without the hassles of impressing the opposite sex. A final reminder, before starting any diet or exercise program consult with your physician to determine what is right for you.
Playing sports is a great way to keep a person physically fit and healthy. There are numerous indoor and outdoor activities that can help improve a person's strength, stamina, and endurance. Runners, cyclists, swimmers, triathletes, marathoners, skiers, and other outdoor fanatics are all exposed to the sun, the wind, the cold and chlorinated water more than people who are sedentary. People who engage in outdoor sports like baseball, softball, and basketball usually encounter a lot of sweat, oils, dirt and environmental pollutants that can wreak havoc on any complexion. Even indoor activities can pose the same threat to the health of the skin so taking some essential skin care steps can save a lot of trouble. People who play outdoor sports should always use sunscreen or sun block. No athlete wants to deal with the signs of sun damage on their face, arms, and hands as a result of the sport they play. By protecting the face and other parts of the body that are exposed to the sun, an athlete can focus on the game instead of his or her skin. There are various types of sunscreen that cater to different needs and skin types. There are even sun care products made just for those who are physically active. While many of these products are listed as sweat-proof, reapplication is key to maintaining long-lasting protection. Based on "skin care" research, athletes need to make skin care an important part of their game preparations. Skin care gets tough as the sporty bunch would need to be powerful, long-lasting and, of course, natural. However, if one does not have a decent skin care regimen to accompany a sports or leisurely activity, the skin can suffer while doing the things one can enjoy the most. With the right products, the skin can stay hydrated, allowing the sport buff to stay at the top of the game.A recent study showed that approximately 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed directly into our bloodstream. The skin, which is the body's largest organ, responds to natural ingredients the same way that the remainder of our body does. When good things are put in, it reacts well. When it receives things that don't fit well with it, the reactions can be subtle or there could be an all-out attack on the immune system. Athletes of all kinds, whether its the pros or the softball league in your local community, have more to worry about than stretching and conditioning. The best way to maintain a truly healthy body is to also maintain truly healthy skin.
Copyright 2006 SSLI Health GroupA statement I made earlier in this book, Root Canal Cover-Up exposed! Many Illnesses Result, is most likely causing some of my dental colleagues to bitterly resent the charge that our profession has unknowingly been responsible for the deaths of many of our patients. How could I make such a statement when not a single one of all my dentist friends and acquaintances has knowingly lost a patient? Ours has generally been considered a safe profession to practice, certainly not one which involves fatality. For dentist, physicians or patients who think I am merely being a sensationalist, this chapter, which reviews the book Death and Dentistry by Martin H. Fischer, M.D., may help put this whole subject in its true perspective.Dr. Fischer's book states the microorganisms from teeth and tonsils metastasize to other organs and tissues, similar to the phenomenon which occurs in cancer and results in similar disagreeable circumstances.Dr. Fischer, a professor of physiology, reminds us the heart disease problems of endocarditis, pericarditis and myocarditis were found to be caused by streptococci and diplococci bacteria, and that these bacteria are also found in chronic appendicitis and bleeding ulcer cases, plus gall bladder and liver diseases. We all know of people who die of these afflictions despite antibiotics. A good many of them have immune systems which have been overtaxed for long periods of time by hidden focal infections and their toxins. Such people more readily develop pneumonia or some other affliction which eventually causes their deaths.Dr. Fischer reported how Dr. E.C. Rosenow (not Milton Rosenau, a Price Research Institute advisor) isolated streptococcus bacteria from a human infected appendix and injected these bacteria into animals, 80 percent of which developed appendicitis. The same Dr. Rosenow reported in the AMA Journal how he had produced stomach and duodental ulcers in 18 rabbits, six dogs and monkey by inoculating these animals with bacteria from the tonsils and the tissues of patients with rheumatism.Dr. Rosenow stated most doctors think ulcers in the stomach are due to the patient's swallowing bacteria from infected tonsils or teeth, but the contents their mode of spread is through the bloodstream.Dr. Fischer's book is full of studies similar to those I have mentioned in this chapter which confirm Price's discoveries.Like the investigators of this subject named in Dr. Fischer's book, other outstanding leaders in this field of research are: Frank Billings, Milton Rosenow, Ludvig Hektoen, D.J. Davis, Edwin Lecount, Leila Jackson, Ernest E. Irons, Rollin T. Woodyatt, George and Gladys Dick, N.W. Jones, Russell Haden, Herman C. Burnpus, Jr., Henry A. Cotton, Bernard Langdon Wyatt, And Weston Price. Each person listed above significantly contributed to the setting up of a new paradigm, a new basic principle in clinical bacteriology and pathology. All of the claims that degenerative diseases are the result of poor inheritance; too much or too little protein, vitamins or minerals; too much beer, wine or whiskey; and the overuse of sugar, sweets and caffeine products, while partially the case, must not deter serious consideration of those 24 million root canal treatments performed last year, not to mention the billion or so which exist in mouths of people throughout America and the rest of the world.
A Nursing homes' sole purpose is to give physical, occupational and rehabilitative therapies. In the United States, there were more than 16,000 nursing homes in 2002 and all of them are asked to work under governmental and legal requirements such as: to have a licensed nursed on duty 24/7, and during at least one shift each day, one of those nurses must be a Registered Nurse (a professional nurse who supervises the assistants).Depending on the type of assistance the resident needs, daily costs of a nursing home can run between US$350 and up. When a family decides to put a dear one into one of these places, they rely on the good will and attention from the crew of the home. They expect to get great of attention, so that good physical and emotional conditions of living are pertained. Unfortunately, this is not what happens all the time. Besides representing a place of relief for many, nursing homes have seen all sorts of injustices and abuses between their walls.Different eye witnesses and surveys have shown that nursing home abuse is a reality, and that it is sadly underreported. Among the reasons for this alarming percentage of cases of elder mistreatment, there are stressful working conditions (staff shortages), staff burnout and inadequate staff training. If the work conditions are not the best at nursing homes, this is obviously shown in the treatment the staff gives the residents. There has been dreadful and unbelievable cases of elder abuse: open wounds, cuts, bruises, burns caused by cigarettes, caustics, acids, dehydration, malnutrition, unclean conditions, and fecal or urine odor.If you find out that a relative or a friend of yours is undergoing one of these situations, try to contact the immediate authorities and report the case.
Hey,listen up. Its time to relax, chill out, and release those pent-up physical, mental and emotional tensions. When dealing with everyday stress and the probability of stress build-up, NOW is always the right time to be proactive; to beat stress before it beats you. Think of stress as a silent enemy. It can sneak up on you at any time and get you down before you even realize whats happening. More often than not stress is accompanied by its close companion: higher levels of anxiety. So, what do you do?You take action, thats what. Your very first line of defence is to establish a habit of performing a regular relaxation routine. Getting into a deep state of relaxation induces calmness to soothe your body, your mind and your emotions. And what is a state of calmness? Its the exact opposite of stress and anxiety. As a matter of fact, you could call it the antidote to stress and anxiety.Start using this antidote. Take time out at least twice every day to do the relaxation routine outlined below. Regard this as your quality time; a time for you and you alone. Start thinking calm, feeling calm, and being calm.Relaxation Routine1. Lie down, or sit in a comfortable armchair or recliner.2. Take a deep breath and hold it for about five seconds. Release that breath slowly, and imagine all feelings of stress and tension leaving your body as you release the air. When the air has left your lungs, hold your breath once again for about five seconds before breathing in. As you breathe in imagine your body and mind filling with calmness.3. Repeat this cycle of breathing a number of times until your breathing falls in a nice long, slow gentle rhythm. Allow a comfortable pause at the end of each inhalation and exhalation.4. As you maintain the relaxing rhythm of your breathing, bring your attention to the top of your head. Imagine that all the tiny muscles in your scalp are being soothed and massaged by warm invisible hands.5. Feel the warm hands massaging around your ears and down along the back of your neck to the tops of your shoulders.6. Now bring your attention to your forehead. Feel those invisible fingers smoothing away any wrinkles that may be in your forehead.7. Next, focus on your eyes. Imagine the warm fingers gentle massaging all around your eyes. Feel the relaxing warmth from the fingers spreading throughout your eyes; feel your eyes relaxing and letting go of all tensions.8. Think of the soothing hands massaging the rest of your face. Notice how your lower jaw relaxes and notice how this cosy, warm feeling of relaxation spreads into your tongue.9. Check your breathing once again to make sure its rhythm is long and slow.10. Now bring your attention to the invisible hands and imagine them massaging and loosening your shoulders and shoulder blades. Imagine what it would be like if waves of relaxation were flowing down along your arms and into your fingertips.11. Those massaging hands now work on your back. They soothe and loosen the muscles on either side of your spine, and then stroke smoothly down along the vertebrae.12. Imagine what it would be like to feel a state of deep relaxation seeping downwards into your legs and feet. Imagine how all the muscles in your legs and feet would go loose and limp.13. Allow feelings of deep relaxation and calmness to immerse your body and your mind.14. Feel yourself drifting deeper and deeper into pleasurable feelings of calmness and tranquillity.
